Marbella Holidays

Marbella Has It All

If you’re planning any upcoming holidays, Marbella, Spain is a fantastic option. Spain has many famous areas for holidays, such as Madrid, the Canary Islands, and Monte Carlo, but the paradise of Marbella offers a certain charm that is unmatched by any other Spanish destinations.

Spain is often considered a place for romance, matched only in its beauty by its culture. The wonderful town of Marbella, located in the Costa del Sol region, encapsulates the very idea of modern romance, but there is so much to see and do for families, couples, and individuals alike. Parents and children seeking an exciting and authentic Spanish experience will enjoy the area just as much as a couple on a loving getaway. Upon arriving, many people feel a sense of tranquility as they stroll the downtown streets, enjoying the fine, authentic Spanish cuisine offered by the many restaurants and bistros, taking in the live entertainment offered by many establishments as they dine.

Many of residents of the country still remain faithful to the old world style that makes this city so unique. While modern in its appearance, ghosts of the past still travel the streets, calling out to you to join them in a moment frozen in time. A unique blend of past, present, and future offers something for everyone, no matter what you’re looking for. You can experience the natural beauty of the coast, check out amazing historic sites, or enjoy classic art at one of the many museums.

Upon planning your trip, you may be faced with a slight, yet happy dilemma. The area boasts over 75 hotels, with many more bed and breakfast and specialty lodging options available, many of which have been rated four and five star stays. In fact, there are so many amazing hotels in the area that you may have to spend quite a bit of time searching before deciding on lodging, as there are so many amazing choices. Regardless, upon researching lodging in the area, you’ll find that almost any hotel in the area will be beyond expectation.

Once settled in, you’ll want to get out to see the sights, and see the sights you will. The area offers so much to see and do that you might find that you don’t have time to fit it all in. First, if you’re an art enthusiast, one of the unique attractions offered by the Costa del Sol region are the Salvador Dali sculptures. Heading through the Alameda Park and into the Avenida del Mar (Sea Avenue,) you may find the works in bronze from Dali calling out to you, along with paintings by Picasso in the Museo del Grabado Contemporáneo (Museum of Contemporary Engravings.)

Other local attractions include the Arabian Wall, dedicated to the time when the Moors controlled the area, as well as the Bonsai Museum, which brings together a collection of about three hundred of the most beautiful, finely crafted Bonsai trees you'll ever see. You can also take in other attractions, such as the Parque de Constitucion (Constitution Park,) where you could enjoy an elegant ballet performance, the perfect way to top off a romantic evening. You may also be interested in visiting the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion (Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation,) which is a sight to behold, majestic and overwhelming in its beauty. Finally, you may find yourself admiring the architecture in the Plaza de los Naranjos, with walls dating back to the Moorish rule of the ninth century.

If shopping is your thing, you’ll find that it is plentiful in the Costa del Sol region. Many stylish boutiques grace the area and you may be surprised at the great deals. Some wonderful areas for shopping are Avenida Ricardo Soriano and Puerto Banus, where you’ll find some amazing deals on clothes and shoes while experiencing the local culture of Spain. Many visitors find that, though they only meant to do some shopping for gifts, they end up pampering themselves a little as well.

While getting around, you’ll find carhire prices are very reasonable and you’ll be impressed by the speed and courtesy of the carhire drivers, as they are always dependable, no matter the time of day. Upon calling a carhire service, within minutes, a driver will arrive, graciously accepting you into the vehicle, ready to take you on your journey. And of course, no journey to the Costa del Sol area would be complete without visiting the beach. Three notable beaches in the area are Playa de Fontanilla, Playa de la Bajadilla, and Playa el Baro. These three exquisite beaches exemplify the beauty of the Mediterranean and will make it hard for you to spend time in your hotel.

Sparkling blue water and sandy beaches surround visitors in luxurious splendor, the warm sun creating the perfect atmosphere for lounging and relaxing in the one of the many sun beds that line the waterfront. At the marina near Playa de la Bajadilla, you can watch sailboats lazily cross the water while people engage in water sports. The beaches are also great for creating romantic moments while watching the sunset. Don’t forget to head back downtown afterward to take in the wonderful nightlife and fine dining.

Speaking of beaches, the property along the beach really adds to the beauty of the landscape, mixing traditional Spanish architecture with modern themes. Clean lines and solid colors mix with classic arcs and pastel brick, blending the old and the new in awe inspiring artistry. As mentioned, there are many hotels and rental properties in the area, but many residents also call the beachfront home. The property owned by residents always shows the spirit of Spain, decorated with traditional Spanish colors and furnishings. If you have the chance, try to take a tour of some of the property for sale so that you can admire the carefully crafted interiors or see some of the stunning traditional Spanish verandas. You also may be pleasantly surprised by just how affordable waterfront or downtown property is.

While in town, don’t forget to check into the local tours in the area. Downtown historical tours are available, as are tours that take you outside the city to nearby cities such as Madrid, Morocco, and Gibraltar. However, one of the most memorable tours available is a horseback riding tour. For a few hours, you’ll be guided through beautiful trails with a spectacular view of the Sierra Mountains, the African Coast, and Gibraltar. This experience truly allows you to take in the countryside and experience the natural beauty of the Coast del Sol region. Don’t forget to bring your camera.

In the end, most visitors feel that Marbella far exceeds their expectations and many are ready to come back as soon as they leave. The landscape is amazing, the people are friendly, the food is delicious, and the attractions will keep you busy from the time you arrive to the time you leave. Of course, if you want to simply relax, you can do that too. If you plan any holidays in Spain, Marbella is highly recommended by many travel experts and tourists alike. It offers so much to see and do and there is something for everyone to enjoy.
